In addition to affecting your smile, missing teeth have an enormous impact on your oral health, function and quality of life. Missing teeth impair your ability to eat and speak normally, create places for plaque to accumulate, and allow your remaining teeth to drift out of their proper positions.

If you are missing one or more teeth in a row, our dentist may recommend a dental bridge to close the gap. Bridges work by literally “bridging” the gap, restoring your smile and working to preserve your bite so that you can eat and speak normally and naturally. Bridges are fixed (non-removable) restorations and consist of one or more prosthetic teeth attached to dental crowns on either side of the space in your smile.

Bridges typically take two appointments to complete. During the first visit, impressions will be taken and the teeth will be prepared to receive crowns. You will be provided with a temporary bridge between appointments. After your bridge has been completed, our dentist will place it, check to ensure that it fits and then bond the bridge in place to complete your treatment.

Bridges require the same care as your original teeth, and we will provide you with instructions on the best ways to brush and floss while wearing a bridge. When properly cared for, you can expect your bridge to last for up to 10 years.
