One of the advanced diagnostic tools used at Newport Dental to examine your mouth and plan your treatments is digital X-rays. Digital X-rays allow our dentist and team to capture high-quality images of your teeth and supporting structures, easily detecting problems such as:

  • Tooth decay
  • Cracked or broken fillings
  • Bone loss
  • Infections in the tooth roots
  • Tumors, cysts and abscesses
  • Developmental problems
  • Improper root positioning
  • Changes in your mouth or teeth

Images captured by digital radiography are also used in treatment planning, including orthodontic treatments, root canal therapy, dental implant placement and other oral surgical procedures. Our dentist will typically take an X-ray before performing any procedure to ensure that your treatment is planned and carried out as precisely as possible.

Using digital X-rays, the imaging process is safe, comfortable and quick. No toxic chemicals are used in developing the images, and radiation exposure from the imaging technology is reduced by up to 90% from traditional film radiography. The captured images are transmitted instantaneously to a nearby monitor and can be easily stored, backed up and transferred to specialists as needed.
