Our caring dentist and team offer dental sealants to help protect your teeth. Sealants are a preventive treatment and consist of a thin, clear or tooth-colored resin that is painted onto the chewing surface of the molars and pre-molars. These teeth are designed to grind and crush food so that you can more easily swallow and chew your food, but they also trap bacteria, plaque, food debris and other decay-causing factors. Sealants form a smooth, protective coating over these teeth to protect them and prevent tooth decay.
Sealants are most commonly provided to children after their permanent teeth begin to come in (ages 6 to 12). However, they are also available for adults. Sealants can be applied in just a few minutes during your regular dental appointment, and they provide protection for your teeth for several years.
The process for placing a dental sealant is simple. Our dentist will clean and dry your teeth and treat it with a mild solution so that the sealant will adhere to the tooth properly. The sealant is then applied, and as soon as it has hardened, you can leave our office and return to your regular activities.
We invite you to call Newport Dental at 425-641-5303 to schedule an appointment with Dr. Brian Han and learn more about the benefits of dental sealants in Bellevue, Washington.
